Cats Go Crackers With Firecrackers

It’s Australia Day soon and hundreds of thousands of Australians will be celebrating the day by visiting one of the fantastic fireworks shows around Perth.

However, what is an amazing spectacle to us can be a terrifying nightmare for cats and kittens in the city.

Marketing Officer, Chandra Woodley stressed that many cats were frightened during fireworks and that cats needed to be kept inside.

“It’s really important to keep your cats and kittens indoors and out of harm’s way during the fireworks this Australia Day” She said “Make sure your cat has a safe place to hide where it is quiet and it feels protected.”

People who aren’t attending the fireworks can comfort their pet by patting it and talking softly or even turn on the TV or radio to mask the noise, she added.

Cats that are left outside during the fireworks may become scared and disoriented, and may not be able to find their way home.

If your cat goes missing during the Australia Day fireworks, it may be brought in to Cat Haven, located at 23 Lemnos Street in Shenton Park.
