“Wet Nose Day” Sunday 16 November - Cat Haven Fundraising Open Day

Cat Haven in Shenton Park is holding its biggest annual fundraiser - ‘Wet Nose Day’ - on Sunday 16 November from 10am to 3pm.

‘Wet Nose Day is a chance to meet all the Cat Haven cats and cute kittens, adopt a cat or two, have some fun and help raise funds. There are plenty of fete and market stalls, raffles, prizes, an auction, lucky dip, kids’ corner, lots of food including a sausage sizzle, vegan sausages, and fantastic cakes. It’s a real family day out with face painters, crafts, toys, and books to buy.” Chandra Woodley, Marketing Officer at Cat Haven explains.

‘Wet Nose Day is our annual open day to raise funds for the cats at Cat Haven. We need the most funding at this time of year as Kitten Season has started and we’re already seeing a steady flow of unwanted kittens through our doors every week.’ Cat Haven’s Marketing Officer Chandra Woodley said. ‘The pressure is on right now to rehome 100s of cats and kittens, and raise extra funds to run the shelter.’ Chandra said.

‘Cat Haven is also selling boxes of delicious mangoes to raise funds at only $40 for a 10kg box. You can order online at www.trybooking.com/GDCV and pick up your box of mangoes on Wet Nose Day.’ Chandra said

Cat Haven received over 6500 unwanted cats last year and it aims to rehome as many as possible to loving homes. It costs over $13 a day to keep a cat at the shelter and they rely heavily on donations, volunteers, sponsors, Wills and memberships to help cover this cost.

All Cat Haven cats are sterilised, microchipped, treated for fleas and worms, and health checked. The shelter currently offers subsidised Snip and Chip deals to concession card holders thanks to a State Government grant.
