Wet Noses Big and Small - Wet Nose Day at Cat Haven Bigger and Better Than Ever
Cat Haven in Shenton Park is holding its biggest fundraiser of the year ‘Wet Nose Day’ on Sunday 22 November from 10am to 3pm and this year it’ll be bigger than ever and it’s on the same day as the Shenton Park Dogs’ Refuge open day.
‘Wet Nose Day is a chance to meet all the Cat Haven cats and cute kittens, adopt a cat or two, have some fun and help raise funds. There are plenty of market stalls, raffles, prizes, an auction, lucky dip, and lots of food including a sausage sizzle, coffee and fantastic home-made cakes. It’s a real family day out with face painters, superheros, plus crafts, toys, plants and books to buy.” Chandra Woodley, Marketing Officer at Cat Haven explains.
‘All items at the open day are priced to go on the day, so it’s a great day for bargain hunters and Christmas shoppers alike, or you can donate by buying a cat a wet dinner or blanket at our Christmas Giving Tree.’ Chandra Woodley said.
‘Wet Nose Day is our annual open day to raise funds for the cats at Cat Haven. We need the most funding at this time of year as Kitten Season has started and we’re already seeing a steady flow of unwanted kittens through our doors every week.’ Cat Haven’s Marketing Officer Chandra Woodley said. ‘The pressure is on right now to rehome 100s of cats and raise extra funds to run the shelter.’ Chandra Woodley said.
‘This year if you come down to Cat Haven early between 10am and 11am you could be a lucky cat and get to meet some of the Perth Lynx players, Perth’s female basketball team, who will be here signing posters, talking basketball and having photos taken.’
Cat Haven received over 6000 unwanted cats last year and it aims to rehome as many as possible to loving homes. It costs over $13 a day to keep a cat at the shelter and they rely heavily on donations, volunteers, sponsors, Wills and memberships to help cover this cost.
All Cat Haven cats are sterilised, microchipped, treated for fleas and worms, and health checked.
