Purrsonality Traits

Hiya, August is the name, and love is the game! I am a 5 year old ginger and white boy. Although I was found on the streets, I am more of a family cat! I love all members of the family from babies to beardy men and everyone in between. The more settled I've become in my foster home, the more social I'm becoming!

I am easy going and will find a place in your heart and home from day one. During the day I enjoy lounging about the house and at night I like to cuddle up. I will sleep most of the day, and foster mum has even found me and the resident toddler napping on the bed! At times curiosity gets the better of me and I go exploring on shelves, benches and other undiscovered places. I am a soft-spoken cat who loves my food (and yours). Let’s see how long you will be able to resist my pretty eyes while you are eating!

Unfortunately, due to the life I was forced to live, I am FIV+. If you do have other cats, my condition should not pose a risk to your other cats as FIV is only spread through deep scratches or penetrating bites, so a proper introduction should mean this won't happen. I would love to spend time outside but I must live indoors or be confined to a secure, sheltered cat enclosure. This will also help prevent me from getting further sun damage to my ears, something else also acquired from living rough.

If you are looking for a loving, calm companion, look no further! Email Fostercare with your phone details and foster mum will be in contact to arrange a meeting at my foster home in Secret Harbour. I can’t wait to meet you!

Health Issues

August has chronic sinusitis, most likely a result of a previous cat flu infection.

August has sustained long term sun damage to one or both ears, and in some cases the nose as well. This is quite a common issue in white cats that have previously spent time outdoors, and the consequences are similar to that of humans who spend too much time in the sun. August has been checked by the Cat Haven veterinarians who decided the changes are so mild that she does not need any treatment at this stage.

August has tested positive for Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV). FIV is a retrovirus that can compromise the immune system, spread by fighting and deep penetrating wounds. He should lead a normal life despite this diagnosis, but there are a few special considerations that need to be made in regards to his health and well-being long term. These include being an inside only cat; slow and careful introduction to other cats; and annual vaccinations and health checks.
