Bobby & Moby, both 13 years old, came to Cat Haven because their owner had to go into care. They are currently in foster in Forrestfield. Their previous foster carer wrote:

If you have a quiet house and are looking for loving, quiet and affectionate cats then these two boofy boys tick all the boxes and would be most grateful for a permanent home in their senior years.

If the house is quiet and you are sitting or lying down having a rest, one or both of these two would seek you out for pats, chin scritches and head bumps, purring all the time. They want nothing more than to sit on you or next to you and are desperate for affection and cuddles.

Being older gents, during the day they pop off and find a quiet place to snooze away, coming out for meals and cuddles. Even though they are senior cats, they also like to play and will happily chase and swipe toys. They still play with each other occasionally.

They did not cause any dramas with our resident cats, but ideally they should be the only animals in the household. They would suit a home where someone is home during the day. While they need to be indoor cats, a sheltered cat enclosure would make Bobby very happy.

Health Issues

Bobby  & Moby have sustained long term sun damage to one or both ears, and in some cases the nose as well. This is quite a common issue in white cats. They have been checked by the Cat Haven veterinarians who decided the changes are so mild that they do not need any treatment at this stage. We recommend they are kept completely indoors and out of the sun to prevent progression of this condition.

Bobby & Moby both have severe heart murmurs. This murmur may possibly have adverse effects on their health in the future. However at this time, they are not showing signs of heart failure currently.

Bobby has joint pain in left hind leg and mild discomfort most likely associated with osteoarthritis.

Moby has a condition called epiphora, sometimes known as blocked tear ducts.  Blocked tear ducts can cause the under or over production of tears, and can predispose the cat to eye infections. Therefore he may require intermittent treatment throughout his life.
