Cat Haven is a 7 day a week operation that has been rescuing and rehoming cats since 1961, taking in roughly 8,000 cats and kittens each year. Operating under the Getting to Zero model, our goal is to rescue and rehome as many cats as possible, ensuring they find loving forever homes.

Our employees are the lifeblood of our organisation, working across all areas including, cat welfare, foster, boarding, reception, clinic and admin. We are also supported by a large group of dedicated volunteers who assist us in everyday operations. Working at Cat Haven is both challenging and rewarding, whilst being amongst a like-minded team who are passionate about animal welfare.

Grounds (Shelter) Manager – Cat Welfare & Adoptions

Full Time | Shenton Park | Weekend availability required

Cat Haven is seeking an experienced, people-focused Grounds Manager to lead our Cat Welfare and Adoptions teams. This role is key to ensuring the highest standards of animal care, smooth daily operations, and a positive, high-performing team culture.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, coach and support a diverse team
• Oversee daily shelter operations & adoption pathways
• Maintain capacity for care and manage onsite cat numbers
• Develop rosters and ensure 7‑day coverage
• Drive best-practice animal welfare & safety compliance
• Improve procedures, policies and operational efficiencies
• Support staff recruitment, training & performance management
• Build strong internal and external stakeholder relationships
• Manage budgets, stock control & customer interactions

About You

• 2–3+ years leadership experience (teams of 10+)
• Strong communicator with a calm, solutions-focused approach
• Confident people leader with the ability to manage diverse personalities
• Highly organised, adaptable and able to thrive in fast-paced environments
• Experience in animal welfare (advantageous but not essential)
