Cat Haven is a 7 day a week operation that has been rescuing and rehoming cats since 1961, and now receives over 8,500 cats and kittens each year. Operating under the Getting to Zero model, our goal is to rescue and rehome as many cats as possible, ensuring they find loving forever homes.
Our employees are the lifeblood of our organisation, working across all areas including cat welfare, foster, boarding, reception, clinic and admin. We are also supported by a large group of dedicated volunteers who assist us in everyday operations. Working at Cat Haven is both challenging and rewarding; we are a like-minded team who are passionate about animal welfare.

Casual Veterinarian (Leave Relief)
Help save lives while supporting Western Australia's largest cat welfare organisation.
Cat Haven is seeking an experienced and compassionate Veterinarian to join our Veterinary Team on a casual basis, providing leave and vacation relief coverage.
This is an excellent opportunity for a veterinarian seeking flexible work while making a meaningful difference to the lives of cats and kittens in need. We are particularly interested in candidates available during the Christmas and New Year period, with induction and training opportunities available from October.
Working in our busy shelter environment, you will support the health and welfare of cats and kittens through consultations, medical case management, treatment planning, routine procedures, and collaboration with our Veterinary Nurses, Cat Welfare teams, foster carers, and adopters.
About You
You will have:
- A Degree in Veterinary Science
- Current registration with the Veterinary Surgeons' Board of Western Australia
- Strong clinical assessment and case management skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- A commitment to feline welfare and low-stress handling practices
- The ability to work confidently and independently in a busy shelter environment
Previous experience in shelter medicine, animal welfare, rescue organisations, or high-volume feline practice will be highly regarded.
